Glorious Glacier Ride

A Cycling 4 Climate initiative.

A challenging cycling trip passing the massive glaciers of the Alps and crossing its most spectacular cols.
A cycling adventure to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and face the harsh reality of climate change, while raising money to support CO2 removal projects.

Why

Glaciers are essential to life on Earth. Billions of people depend on them for water and food.

However, glaciers are retreating at an alarming rate due to climate change. This threatens ecosystems, water resources, and human communities. Melting glaciers contribute significantly to sea-level rise, posing risks to coastal communities and causing saltwater intrusion into freshwater supplies.

We have to stop treating our atmosphere as a sewer and start to remove CO2 to preserve our glaciers and secure a sustainable future for all.

The Ride in 2026

In 2026, the Glorious Glacier Ride will take place again, from June to September. Cyclists from around the world will embark on this epic journey, experiencing the breathtaking beauty of the Alps while raising awareness about the urgent need to combat climate change.

There are 3 ways to take part in the ride. You can follow the route independently or join a guided tour with Borne Cycling (Aug 23-28) or with VeloTours (Aug 28 - Sept 4).

The Route

The glaciers in the alps have lost more than half their volume since this map was drawn in the 1930's.

Support & sink

The Glorious Glacier Ride is initiated to show the bitter reality of climate change, but more important: to ignite action to do something about it.

This is where you come in! You can support the riders by ordering one or more of the limited edition postcards. They postcard will be send from the location with a personal note.

While the riders sweat, you remove CO2 from the atmosphere. The revenue is used to fund Carbon Dioxide Removal projects, that increases local income, improves soil quality and enables climate finance: a Triple Win.

Do you want to ride (a part of) the Glorious Glacier Ride yourself and start your own Carbon-Sinking campaign? You can register here.

A more detailed description of the Glorious Glacier Ride, including GPS files, can be found on the Route Page.
